Festivalito Rural  2013

Venues

All events of Festivalito Rural will take place in Celje, Slovenia. More precisely, there will be two venues:

  • Milongas will take place in Club Terazza, Aškerčeva 14. This is a cozy dance club on the top of a wannabe shopping centre. It has wooden floor, a terrace (what a surprise!) and takes about 130 milongueras and milongueros.
  • Celje Youth Centre (short: MCC), Mariborska 2 has a double (actually triple:) function. First, there is a hall that will easily swallow our maximum of 14 couples for the classes. Second, there is a café, again with a terrace, but it is on the ground floor and covered. We'll use the inside of the café for the welcome milonguita.
You don't need a car during the festivalito. You don't need to use the public transport. In Celje, everything is walking distance. The venues of the festivalito even more so: they are only 100m apart! The same holds for the ho(s)tel we've picked for you: MCC's third function is one of a hostel, and Hotel Štorman is again just 100m away.

Don't forget to take a look at the GoogleMap!

How to get there

If you're from Europe, the best way is almost certainly by car. Pack your tango shoes and some friends (you're not coming alone, right? ;-) and have a road trip! Most fun and also the cheapest way, but don't forget to buy the vignette! (buying the vignette is how you pay the highway toll in Slovenia; the one-week vignette costs 15 EUR.)

Directions for Club Terazza: exit highway at "Celje - center" (Celje has three exits, exit at the second one), head towards the centre (to the left). Drive straight ahead for 2,5km. The bus station will be on your left, and also on the left but after the junction, a building called Celeia Park. Club Terraza is on top of this building. There is a garage in the building, but don't use it because it closes down at 10pm! There's a parking just across the street that's free at night. The elevator for Club Terraza is in the back, next to the entrance to the forbidden garage.

If you're coming by plane, don't forget that Slovenia is very small, so you can use airports in our neighbourhood, too. Truth be told, flying to Ljubljana is usually not the cheapest option. A list of nearby airports with approximate distances to Celje: Ljubljana 100km, Trieste 200km, Venice (Marco Polo) 300km, Venice (Treviso) 320km, Klagenfurt 150km, Graz 120km, Vienna 300km, Zagreb 120km, Rijeka 220km. If you arrive to Ljubljana airport (Brnik), take a shuttle to Ljubljana and then a train or a bus to Celje (see below).

Train or bus? One upside of using train or bus is that Club Terazza is between the bus and the train station ;-)
